Rathel Goodman was the son of Stafford J Goodman and Felora Joyner. He had siblings Gilbert Y Goodman, Ethel G Goodman Hartsell, Bernadine V Goodman, Ollie T Goodman, Lester L Goodman. He was married to Irene Goodman.
He entered the service December 1941 and was deployed December 1943. He was killed in action in Germany 8 April 1945.
