We learn with extreme regret of the death of Staff Sgt. Douglas Watson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alva Watson, who live in Elizabethtown, Ill. Staff Sgt. Watson whose home was at Elizabethtown, Ill., had been in the army since shortly after his graduation from the Rosiclare High School in 1936. He was killed in France while fighting the Germans in the sector occupied by General Patton's Third Army. He was in the 15th Tank Battalion of the 6th Armored Division, often called "The Fighting Sixth."
Both Mr. and Mrs. Alva Watson were born and raised in the Fords Ferry section of the county, she being before her marriage, Miss Toy Wofford.
