CCA moved east towards the Weisse Elster River and ZEITZ, with TF on the left and TF9 on the right, German resistance increased. Task Force 15's route of advance went through a number of small towns, crossing the north-south autobahn at RODA. Lieutenant Kurtz, platoon leader from D company, had replaced Park at the point, in order to give the over-worked Park a few days rest. At RODA a panzerfaust shell killed Lt. Kurtz.
